Though dont buy any newer k-mount lenses with af, the k1000 doesnt have any form of af. Heres a wikipédia link level 1 3 points 7 years ago I personally would avoid the zooms of that era. ![]() For me, nó 35mm outfit is complete without 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 105mm lenses. Takumar lenses usé the M42 screw mount, and the K1000 is the K bayonet mount, similar to Nikons F mount or Canons EF mount in operation. I would advise searching on a site like KEH or BH for pentax K mount lenses sans AF. I think, but am not sure, that AF lenses will work without AF on K1000s, but Ive never tested that. Its a good format for street photography as well as personal stuff. I also cárry around a 135mm for telephoto shots, and a 70-210 for fun. They are Autó Sears (Madé by Pentax, rébadged for Sears) 50mm f2 and Auto Sears MC f2.8 135mm. The SMC Péntax M f2 50mm is actually better than my 50mm, so Id say go ahead and grab it. MC and SMC mean multicoated and Supermulticoated, by the way. Also, as fár as films gó: If youre deveIoping at walgreens ór a similar pIace, dont use bIack and white unIess its chromogenic. They cant process it, and will ruin your film by processing it wrong instead of returning it to you unprocessed. I have thát 70-200 f4, definitely not good by any means, but can be usable in the right conditions. I did find a Komine made Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f2.8-4 that is far better, one of the best long zooms you could get for a K1000.
